It was bound to happen, ya shoot your trap off enough and some one calls you out. I should have known better than speak up and stick hot pokers in folks eyes. The ACBS has asked me to step up and be the President of the Tidewater Chapter here in Virginia. Keith Colonna the out going President has done a great job and has the same pirate attitude that I have, so he appealed to that in me. I suppose one can complain from the outside, or get to work from with in. My rants about the ACBS have always been because I care. We all need the ACBS and we need it to succeed, not fail. I have had many conversations with the ACBS international board and in the end they do get it. Getting it done is another thing. All volunteer organizations these days are at a cross roads. The ACBS is not alone. It’s not fare to poke at them and not step up. It’s the right thing to do. So I suppose I am no longer in the peanut gallery. I am now part of the problem and hopefully part of the solution. Oh god, what have I done? I’m scarred! You can join the fun here… if not.. you can join this group.

anyway: Thanks for stepping up Matt, Keith did a great job and elevated the image and reach of the chapter but guys like me need to step up more. The problem is time…and honestly I can't see where YOU could have any more to spare given WoodyBoater and work and family and varnish etc etc. but go for it buddy and I promise to help. We are both ACBS headquarters critics…that is healthy…hope they understand that. Won't worry if they don't.

If you're now part of the establishment or 'THE MAN' can we still expect the same level of unbiased rant? No more calls for riots or burning people ineffigy ( at a reasonable time so as to have a nice dinner afterward)? Or will the chapter now sport a skull and cross bones banner? Will your chapter be THE ONE to belong to? Will all wear WoodyBoater T-shirts? Either way congratulations.
Way to go Matt – its volunteers that make the ACBS thing work.
How about a future feature on Keith’s rare Corvette? Keith gave me a tour of his boat years ago – it is a unique vessel.., or if you get really desperate, you could always do an article on his fan collection.

Thanks for the feedback…This will not in anyway interfere with the Independence of Woody Boater, I have a feeling that you will all let me know if it does. We need a place like Woody Boater to vent sometimes. And after all Woody Boater is all of us, not just me.My job here is to encourage conversation, not to mention the occasional toilet seat made like a Chris Craft.. Dang I should have bought that one… My deep fear is what Jim said. I have heard way to much of that. But change needs to happen and from the conversations I have had with some folks deep in the club… This may be the time. So, I can't stand by and just point at the flaws and not try and help, that's not me. And i get a feeling its not you guys. After all who in the hell wants a wood boat if you don't like doing things. I am working now on a vision were the Tidewater chapter can have fun and make some new fun additions to the ACBS…
