Often referred to as the quintessential wooden runabout from the early 50′s, the 20′ Riviera is considered to be the most rare with only 288 produced by Chris-Craft between 1950 & 1954.
But the auction ends on Monday (Nov. 28th) so just consider it as a last minute Black Friday purchase and surprise your wife at Christmas.

There is a divorce attorney just itching to contact the better half of the winning bidder on this baby.
What a shame to see it in such a state.
Sad part is the varnish was peeling when I parked it there 15 years ago for the owner. Thats all, nothing else was wrong. They had it in Chamberlains Marine in southern Il for some varnish work when the owner passed away. I moved it back for them and it sat outside all these years.
I like the 2nd picture with the chainsaw sitting on the ground. Very suggestive. It creates that delemma that may help motivate a buyer.
Actually the chainsaw was needed to clear trees that had grown around the tire. Boat had sat there for 15 years. Besides you use a sawsall where you might hit screws or nails as chains are too expensive.
If I bring another home my wife will take whatever is handy be it chainsaw, sawsall or steak knife to me and the boats. I think my wife is unhealthy for my hobby.

I presented myself with several project boats a number of years ago. A few years later…..I found myself single again. In the end the divorce cost me the project boats and a number of other assets, all of which were needed to turn the project boats into finished projects. There is no justice.
Maybe one day Woody Boater should do a feature story on the Pitfalls of Marriage vs Wood Boat Restoration.
