The annual Muscatine show this year was canceled. But saved earlier in the year. No race boats though. Which in the end turned out to be OK since you could actually talk with your fellow woody boaters. And in this case, Fiber Boaters. The Muscatine show is known for bring out the odd balls…. And boats too.. rim shot here.. Fellow Woody Boater Jim Staib from Fine Wood Boats was there as our reporter. Here are some fun shots of the event.

When I saw the image of the red and white boat "more like 2 boats in 1" I had a flashback to the car my uncle used to drive when I was a kid. A Triumph Herald.. all the way from the UK. Here is a link to a picture of that kind of car.

I must admit, this show "That Was Then, This Is Now" isn't a Mt. Dora, Clayton, St. Michaels but there were 100 boats present which included quite a few Woodys. The city of Muscatine provides an amazing amount of support for this event. It's a fun show.
I was unable to attend this year but enjoyed it last May and will definitely go back. The race boats add a level of excitement to the event but there's plenty of other things going on, such as the card board race regatta, gutter boat racing, an evening boat parade, free food for participants (no entry fee) and Woody Boater friends from miles around. The rivers edge park in enormous so there's room for everyone.

Some day I will make it to the Muscatine show. I graduated High School @ Muskie High in 1980! That's right, Watermelon City as we called it. Growing up on a farm near there I hardly considered ending up down in Florida. 30 year reunion this year too! Jesh, I'm gettin old.
