Woody Boater is proud to break the news of a new Antique & Classic Boat school. This new school will be focusing on Antique & Classic Wood runabouts, utilities and hydro’s, said founder Pat Curtin. “We wanted to create a place were people can learn the tricks of the trade from back in the day, from some of the top guys in the country. This is not a museum and we are not restoring bottles of fine wine. It’s old school.” Old School Boat School. The first classes start this spring. Located were else, but on Golden Pond. AKA, New Hampshire. School creator Pat Curtin is known through out the hobby for his work on the films On Golden Pond, Striking Distance, Water World, and Interview With A Vampire. He also owned and oporated a very succesful restoration shop for years. The stories between coats of varnish are worth the price alone. He has also brought the band back together of some of the most well known racers of the day. Antiques and Classics themselves… The school will teach basics like varnishing the old school way. Re-planking, Bottoms and building those cool hydro’s. From weekend courses to week long boondoggles. There are also plans in place that you can bring your boat to work on. Can they video the proceedings, make them available to the rest of us that cannot swing the deal and spread out the cost for everyone?

I love your web site. I am an 81 year young kid that has been involved with boats since I was 9 years old. I was lucky enough to have a Marina in 1957-1962.When my wife passed on in 1998, I started restoring old woodies, (outboards) and I am presently working on a 1964 Thompson 17′. Keep up the great work.
